Deposit money to your 'Swap Bank Account'
When posting a swap, you will need to have a minimum of $10.00 on your 'Swap Bank Account'. Use this money for the cost of shipping when requesting swaps.
To make a deposit onto your 'Swap Bank Account':

You can swap just about anything: CDs, DVDs, clothing, toys, antiques, your professional services, a weekend at your summer cottage, even your cars and houses – you decide what you want to swap within our Swap@Home guidelines:
Swapping Guidelines
• Only offer items that will appeal to fellow swappers. Don’t waste time posting items you wouldn't put in your yard sale.
• All items must be fully functional. Items can be slightly damaged, but provide full details of damage when you post your description. Swapping a broken item will only give you a negative rating which all members can view and could limit future exchanges.
• All items that are damaged in ways that make them unsafe to use are unacceptable. All electronics, tools and equipment of any kind must include all material essential for their safe operation.
• You must be the owner of your swap item or have the right to swap it. You are not allowed to infringe any copyright or any other article, which is under license.
• Items that are prohibited on Swap@Home include: Recorded and digital media (such as Videos, DVDs, Computer and Video Games, Software, CDs, MP3s, all recorded music of any kind) not created by the copyright holder, including recopied media in any form, all illegal items, pornography, stolen goods, firearms, ammunition and weapons, living creatures and unauthorized/illegal wildlife products, prescription and illegal drugs, recopied media, counterfeits and unauthorized replicas, products that have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), hazardous materials (such as explosives, radioactive materials, flammable gases, liquids and solids, and toxic substances) and generally offensive material.
Swap@Home reserves the right to make judgments about whether or not content is appropriate.
Any swappers not following these guidelines will be immediately suspended from using Swap@Home. If suspended for violating guidelines, there will be no re-imbursement from closed Swap Accounts or Coupon Accounts.
Attach a Photo to your Swap Offer
Pictures speak louder than words and adding an image to your swap offer is easy!!!
To add a picture to a new swap that you are offering, do the following:
Save the digital photo you want to show with your swap offer on your computer
Login
Go to 'Post a Swap'
Scroll down and click 'Browse' to locate the image on your computer
Save your swap
The size of the photo should be maximum 1 MB in .jpg, .gif or .png format.
To add pictures to swaps that are already listed, do the following:
Login
Click on "My Swap Offers"
Click on "Modify"
Scroll down and click 'Browse' to locate the image on your computer
Click "Upload another image"
Here you can also upload multiple images of your swap, sort them and delete them.
Be Honest about your Swap Offer
Describe your swap offer honestly. Describe any visible usage or operating defects of your items. Be up-front with fellow swappers and declare the true condition of your item.
Examine your item before posting: maybe your CD has a scratch on it, your jeans have a small hole in the pocket or your antique table has a slight chip on one of the legs?
It’s also important to note the age of your item as well as any model numbers that can date your item. Your fellow swappers will recognize if your bicycle is 12 instead of 2 years old!
Once the receiving swapper receives your item, they will rate your service (based on the condition of your item, speed of transaction and shipping time etc) and post a rating for you.
Your online member profile will show all feedback from receiving swappers.
Describing your Swap Offer
Every swap offer has a 'Brief Description' and a 'Detailed Description'.
The Brief Description will show wherever items are listed.
Create an eye catching description that will make your swap stand out and encourage curious swappers to find out more details in the Detailed Description of your swap offer.
To help other swappers find your swap offer, be sure to name your it as precisely as possible and list it in the category that matches your offer best.
Further Comments in your Swap Offer Description
When offering a swap, you can write additional comments for each swap offer. Let other swappers know why you want to swap your item.
For example, “I received this brand new digital camera for my birthday but I already have one” or “I only wore these jeans twice before I lost weight and now they don’t fit”.
We all love a story – tell us why you want to swap!
Value of Swap Coupons
Swap Coupons do not represent any currency or monetary value.
We do give suggested recommendations on how many coupons you might ask for your swap offer (see below), but it’s up to you on how many coupons you ask for in exchange for your item / service. That’s part of the fun of Swap@Home – you decide on the coupon worth of your offer.
But if you ‘charge’ too many Swap Coupons, your swap offer will not be desirable to other swappers. Completing a swap is the main way of earning Swap Coupons, which you need for requesting other swaps from our listings.
We recommend asking for the number of coupons that reflect a fair market value, based on the demand for the offer, the age of a swap item, condition and desirability.
Our suggested guideline is as follows:
Value of a swap offer in US Dollars -> Value of a swap offer in Swap@Home coupons
US$ 0 - 10 -> 1 Coupon
US$ 11 - 25 -> up to 2 Coupons
US$ 26 - 50 -> up to 4 Coupons
US$ 51 - 100 -> up to 8 Coupons
US$ 101 - 300 -> up to 20 Coupons
US$ 301 - 500 -> up to 40 Coupons
US$ 501 - 1000 -> up to 75 Coupons
US$ 1001 - 5.000 -> up to 300 Coupons
over US$ 5000 -> up to 500 Coupons
If you decide that your swap offer seems too 'cheap' or too 'expensive' for other swappers, you can change the value of your coupons at any time.
Choice of Category
When offering a swap, you have to select the category the matches your offer best. This will help other swappers to find your swap offer.
You can only list your offer in one category. But if you have an item that has an expiration date such as theater tickets, you can feature your swap offer in "Time Sensitive Swap Offers", in addition to a category from our listings.
Date of Shipping
You have 4 days to confirm the swap.
Within 10 days of confirmation the requesting swapper must have received your swap item.
The faster and better you ship your item the better your rating will be at the end.
Highest score is 6 points plus you get 1 coupon from us for free for each 6-point-rating as a reward for being an excellent swapper!
Packing your Item for Shipping
Please package your item very carefully so when the requesting swapper receives your item it will be in good condition.
We suggest padded envelopes for CDs and DVDs and books. For bigger items we recommend a strong cardboard box with newspaper or other filler. For bulky items, such as a bicycle we recommend you talk to UPS or the Postal Service, as to how they would like to have these items packaged for shipping.
Tips on Cost of Shipping
The swapper requesting the item will reimburse you for the cost of shipping. Our system will do this automatically by transferring the cost of shipping from the Swap Bank Account of the requesting swapper to yours.
How much you charge for shipping your item is up to you, but the cost of shipping you charge should reflect how much you actually pay. Find the best and most economical way to ship your item by following these links to USPS, Canada Post, UPS USA and UPS Canada.
If you are shipping within the USA, check if USPS First Class Mail is the best way to go, or if your item qualifies for the USPS Media Mail Service. You can ship a couple of CDs, DVDs, VHS’s and Electronic Games for under US$2.00. Books and most printed materials qualify too. All packages for both services depend on the weight of the item.
Combining the cost of shipping:
If the same swapper requests a couple of your items at the same time, you can combine the cost of shipping and send all items in one package.
To combine the cost of shipping:

Go to "My Active Swaps"
Select the swaps you want to combine and click "Combine Cost of Shipping". You can then enter the revised $ amount.
For example:
You are offering 10 CDs with a cost of shipping of $1.75 each. Another member requests 9 of your CDs. You will send all of them in one package and you change the cost of shipping to $5.00 for all 9 CDs combined.
